Cherizar Walker had always felt drawn to shamanism. After the murder of her brother and the dissolution of her marriage, a message from the universe arrived in the form of an invitation to study with five renowned shamans in the mountains of Ecuador. Knowing that she was meant to walk this path, she accepted the call.
The Conception of Utopia is the story of her journey to healing and transformation. Written within its pages are the never-before-recorded teachings of a colorful cast of shamans and healers. With the wisdom and guidance of these teachers, Walker not only learns to open and rewild her heart, but also becomes a capable shamanic practitioner in her own right. This is the story not just of one woman’s healing journey, but also of the new wave of shamanism that has the power to heal the world.
Set against the striking landscapes of Ecuador and Mexico City, The Conception of Utopia is vulnerable, honest, and full of heart.
Cherizar Walker is a researcher and storyteller who lives a life of multi-faceted pursuits.
She was born and raised in Los Angeles, where she began a successful career in aerospace engineering. In 2013, she decided to follow her heart to Montréal, where her passion for the integrative nature of writing and the healing arts ignited. This led her to receiving her shamanic healing certification from the Andean Masters in 2019, and to discovering her higher purpose in life.
The Conception of Utopia is her first book.
The Conception of Utopia was conceived during the rise of the Divine Feminine energy in 2019. One of the shamans in the book, Don Alberto, spoke about this as a prophecy, and said that it meant that balance was finally coming on a global scale. In 2022, I traveled to Crete to commemorate the completion of writing the book, and to capture a photo that could be used as the book cover. I wore nothing on top, to honor how the ancient Minoan woman (of Crete) dressed during the time when the Goddess was the one worshipped.
The Conception of Utopia will be released later this year on Turning Stone Press – an imprint of Hierophant Publishing. It is the story of Cherizar's journey to healing and transformation. Within its pages are the never-before-recorded teachings of the colorful cast of shamans and healers she studied with.
What sets “The Conception of Utopia” apart from other works in its genre is not just its exploration into modern shamanism but its proposition that such ancient practices hold keys to solving contemporary issues—be they personal or global. Walker posits that by rewilding hearts and reconnecting with nature’s rhythms, humanity can forge a new way forward—a utopia where healing is communal rather than individualistic.
“The Conception of Utopia” serves not only as a memoir but also as a manifesto—a declaration that another world is possible when one dares to dream it into being. In sharing her story so generously, Cherizar Walker offers everyone a roadmap toward utopia: one where love leads individuals back to each other and the planet.
“The Conception of Utopia” arrives at a moment when global consciousness is shifting towards greater empathy, understanding, and search for meaning beyond material success. As such stories find their place in public discourse—they offer us pathways for overcoming adversity through inner transformation.
